Los Angeles - California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger finally got a motorcycle licence nearly six months after crashing without one while riding his Harley-Davidson.

The New York Times reported the Terminator movie star - who rode a motorcycle with a youngster holding on to his back in the hit film - passed written and riding tests and earned the required permit

An official at the governor's office confirmed the report but gave no details.

Schwarzenegger needed 15 stitches after the January accident and later appeared in public with a puffy lip saying that getting a licence had never crossed his mind.

The brawny actor and former bodybuilder said: "I just never thought about it."

Police and city prosecutors said at the time they would not press any charge over the accident, which took place when Schwarzenegger and his 12-year-old son Patrick were riding near their Los Angeles home. - AFP
