Three weeks to 2009 Roof of Africa start
DDD
November 4, 2009
Entries are flooding in and competitors are gearing up for the Mother of All Enduros with only three weeks to go to the 42nd Roof of Africa event in Lesotho.
The race will not follow last year's route but instead run through the Black Maluti mountans and should, the organisers say, be even more difficult and testing.
The race will have daily TV coverage which will not only lift the exposure of the event among southern African races but it also put it among international events - which is where the organisers believe it belongs.
At the same time the race will have daily internet coverage together with hourly updates on the progress of competitors passing two checkpoints and the finish
With the large number of international entries already received, the southern African competitors are ready to take on the world in their territory, and, after being shown the way by Chris Birch from New Zealand last year, it is expected the heat will be on.
Some of the top international names and the best racers from around the globe will be in action and this promises to be one of the best-yet Roofs. - Sapa

EXTREME IS THE NAME OF THE GAME: Clynt Lund (Yamaha) finished ninth overall in the 2008 Roof of Africa but even he needed help from two competitors to get up this rocky section. |
