Kia's latest baby - she's even smaller than a Picanto
SAM'S LITTLE GIRL IN A HURRY TO MAKE HER DEBUT
November 21, 2009
Kia has just added a new baby to the range. It's even smaller than a Picanto, was launched this week, weighs only 2.9kg - and comes only in pink.
When mum-to-be Samantha Smyth felt the beginnings of labour at 2am she called her mother who came to the rescue in her Kia Carens but baby didn't want to wait and at 4.30am Sam gave birth to a healthy girl in the back of the Kia.
"It all happened so quickly," said proud mum Sam. She and partner Tony Richardson had intended to name the child Tilly but, to celebrate her unusual arrival, they decided Kia would be more appropriate
When Kia UK found out about this unusual "delivery vehicle" it gave the couple a Carens of their own and threw in two sets of waterproof seat covers - accidents do happen, and a car cover each for the two Carenses in the the family.
Sam said: "I'm just so chuffed, I can't believe it – we only had a four-seater so now we can move the whole family in comfort. Thank you to Kia for arriving and to Kia for the car!"
Kia UK's Michael Cole said: "All of us at Kia are delighted for Tony and Sam and flattered that they have named their baby Kia after she was born in Granny's Carens.
"We know how good the Carens is for families – especially growing ones - so we thought we should help them out by giving them a Carens of their own to welcome Kia to the family."
