New face for Lexus GS - including the hybrid
GS300 EX JOINS THE RANGE
February 1, 2010
The Lexus GS300 has been given a new face and other features for 2010 and is now available in South Africa.
The automaker says the range has enhanced styling, another EX model and improved features specification and includes the country's only hybrid performance executive sedan.
The cars have a new grille and revised alloy rims and the hybrid models has its own grille treatment and clear-cover tail lights.
“The addition of the GS300 EX to the range complements this minor facelift and fills a widening gap between the S and SE,” says Kevin Flynn, Lexus SA's general manager
The GS300 EX has many of the features of the higher-specced GS300 SE but is less expensive. It shares its appearance with the SE with 18" alloy rims and an aerodynamic boot lip. Over and above the features of the GS300 S, the EX adds a multi-vision screen a 18cm, full-colour touchscreen that covers satnav and a parking camera.
Standard features in and on the GS include automatic adaptive headlights, foul-weather lights at each end and "soft-close" doors. The front seats have three memory positions and heating, the steering-wheel electric adjustment, auto aircon, Bluetooth, cruise control and a radio/CD with a six-disc changer and 10 speakers.
POWERFUL HYBRID
SE models have auto screen wipers, seat ventilation, moon roof, power rear sunshade and a Mark Levinson 14-speaker digital audio system that can carry 2000 tracks on its hard drive.
The GS450h combines a 218kW 3.5-litre petrol V6 with 147kW of electric power to give performance comparable with turbodiesel torque and economy.
The GS300’s three-litre V6 develops 183kW and 310Nm and his hitched to a six-speed auto transmission.
