Zulu rally dates announced

The timing and location for the 2006 Zulu rally, a round of both the FIA Africa Rally championship and SA National Rally championship – as well as South Africa's bid for inclusion in the 2007 World Rally championship calendar – have been announced.

It will be run in Durban and the nearby Eston area from May 24-27; negotiations are underway for further scenic locations to complete the route

Clerk of the course Richard Leeke said: "We have found some exciting new roads that will give the crews a variety of conditions.

"These roads have never been used for rallying before, so they will provide all the crews with an interesting challenge.

"The route isn't final, but we have a good idea of where it will run."

Sporting director for the event (and Australian rally clerk of the course) Adrian Stafford will be in Durban this weekend and next week for final route and event planning.
